This half-hour documentary following a high schooler during the pandemic illuminates the obstacles low-income students are quietly facing. Jacquelyn Jimenez Romero was wrapping up a successful senior year– student body president, yearbook editor, varsity athlete– when COVID-19 threw off everything. She finds herself at home with her mom, two younger siblings and limited internet access. Despite the challenges, she steps up to help family and classmates navigate the situation.
This documentary was produced at the height of the pandemic and presented many challenges. Read about how we approached the story: “What a Seattle teen’s story taught us about life in a pandemic” (Crosscut)
