I collaborated with developers at Italian newspaper La Stampa to design a series called Italia Selvaggia (“The Wilds of Italy”) for the publication’s MediaLab, dedicated to innovation in storytelling.
The series followed a writer and photographer to five locations in Italy that still retained their wild, natural beauty. Each week I received the writer’s copy, photos and raw video. I fashioned these into a visual design featuring a liquid layout, parallax scrolling, background video loops and full-width photo galleries. The idea was to plunge readers into an immersive experience, allowing them to imagine themselves in these remote locations.
We created a separate, less graphically intensive version of the series optimized for mobile. It was the first time that the newspaper presented separate desktop and mobile designs of a story.
